At the invitation of the China National Seed Trade Association Dr. Jürgen Ritter, German Managing Director of the Sino-German Agricultural Centre, participated in the “Hainan Free Trade Port Seeds Industry Development Forum” on 30 October in Sanya. At this occasion he introduced the fields of activities of the Sino-German Agricultural Centre, in particular the cooperation activities in the seeds sector with German partners of the Federal Plant Variety Office and the German Plant Breeders’ Association.[...]

On October 29, Eva Sternfeld participated in a seminar for peach farmers in Pinggu District in Beijing’s north east, at the invitation of the Beijing Yichen Fruit and Vegetable Production and Marketing Cooperative. Smart Agriculture is this year’s key topic in the DCZ Agricultural Policy Dialogue. Originally, a study visit on this subject to Germany and France was planned, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic a physical study visit had to be cancelled. Between June 24-26, the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) held its annual international conference focussing on the topic „Digital transformation – towards sustainable food value chains in Eurasia“. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year’s conference was held online. The event was attended by more than 400 participants from all over the world. The DCZ as well as representatives of institutes of the DCZ partner, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), actively contributed to the conference. [...]
